Initial Discernment
A woman who feels God may be inviting her to vowed religious life contacts the Vocations Director for an initial conversation. If it is mutually agreed the woman meets regularly with the Vocation Director, as well as with an experienced Spiritual Director. The woman also participates in community celebrations, group events regularly scheduled for inquirers, and begins to get to know the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Candidacy
As a candidate, a woman spends two years living in one of our community houses with professed sisters while continuing in her present employment or studies. She meets regularly with the Candidate Director to continue discerning her call to live as a SIster of St. Joseph.
Novitiate
The woman enters full-time into living as a Sister of St. Joseph. In this two-year period she deepens her relationship with Jesus and with the community through prayer, study of our way of life, and involvement in ministry. She meets regularly with the Novice Director.
Temporary Professed
The woman makes profession of vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience for a period of three to six years. She lives with other sisters in community and shares in full time ministry. She meets regularly with the Temporary Professed Director as she discerns further confirmation of her call to the Sisters of St. Joseph.
